Sintra, Portugal. I was walking alone through a forest that leads to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the Eurasian continent.
I felt the scent of conifers burst like tiny particles in my nasal passages.
At that moment, I suddenly remembered raising a swallowtail butterfly larva when I was little. I brought home a modest pale yellow egg and, after it hatched, fed it sansho leaves every day.
A few days after it became a chrysalis, a beautiful winged swallowtail butterfly emerged. Perhaps reluctant to leave the home where it spent its larval stage, it seemed a bit bewildered, but eventually quietly flew away from the balcony.

Centered on woody notes, it features an elegant blend of incense, leather, rose, and spices such as Sichuan sansho and ginger.
