ULTERIOR FADED LIGHT DENIM SHORT COVERALL

This piece reconstructs the short-length coveralls that became popular around the 1950s, with a balance unique to ULTERIOR.

While retaining the tool pockets characteristic of workwear, the length is boldly shortened. The collar is made slightly smaller, and the sleeve cap is set lower, creating a silhouette that, while retaining the ruggedness of coveralls, can be worn lightly like a denim jacket.

The material used is natural slub yarn made from American cotton, rope-dyed with pure indigo in a slightly lighter shade. By weaving gray yarn into the weft, a deep blue color is achieved that is different from typical light-ounce denim. Another feature is the raw, unrefined texture, reminiscent of un-singed fabric.

Through manual work by artisans and multiple washing processes, a deep fade and rich contrast are expressed throughout. While incorporating strong friction-like fading and paint marks, it possesses a modern appearance characteristic of ULTERIOR that goes beyond merely reproducing vintage items.

The lightweight 9.5oz denim can be worn for many seasons, almost like a shirt. It works well as a light outer layer in spring and autumn, and as an inner layer under jackets or coats in winter. Its short length makes it ideal for styling with wide pants or voluminous bottoms.
